A Million Evil Faces - A Rising Force in the Metal Scene

Following the successful reception of their debut singles in 2010, A Million Evil Faces has spent the last few years crafting new material and playing local shows in East Malaysia. They've also had the opportunity to open for international touring bands such as Ruiner (USA), Mouthful of Air, Abolition AD, Reckless Landing (SG), Bleed This Skyline, Wartillery (BN), Australian Metalcore giants I Killed The Prom Queen, and most recently, American Deathcore heavyweights Suicide Silence. Balancing their musical endeavors with education and career pursuits, the band has navigated a challenging yet rewarding journey.

After two years of ups and downs, and a lengthy recording process, A Million Evil Faces finally released their 4-track debut EP on December 28th, 2013. "We've had a year like you wouldn't believe," said Dwen. "We were contending with uni, work, touring, and a change in the lineup, but it's been a really positive and exciting experience. Now we're ready to do this." The band embarked on their first international tour in Bangkok and Chiangmai, Thailand, in 2014.

The tour was not without its challenges. "We endured all sorts of problems that just coincidentally popped out of nowhere when everything was at such a smooth cruise," said Luigi. Fifie added, "Maybe it was a test to see whether we, as a band, could cope with such pressures pinning us down. It turns out, the experience made us even stronger."

Dwen reflected on a significant hurdle: "I think the problems came around when Reuben, at the last minute, was unable to join the tour due to family matters. We were in confusion. Lost. The flights were already purchased, bookings had been done, and flyers distributed. Luckily, with one simple phone call, our buddy Jeremy from the band Cousin Of Death (based in Kuching, Sarawak) was able to fill in for Reuben two weeks prior to the tour. In that two weeks, we hit the practice studio so hard, we began to feel the pressure even more. Let me tell you one thing - IT WAS ALL WORTH IT."

The band's musical style, rooted in metal genres including melodic metal, has recently undergone a significant evolution. Influenced by a wide range of musical styles, especially those booming in the international metal community, A Million Evil Faces now describes their sound as more avant-garde and contemporary. Their lyrics maintain a dark narrative theme, exploring positivity, humanity, brotherhood, and political expression.

Their singles, along with extensive touring around East Malaysia and their heavy and energetic live performances, have brought A Million Evil Faces considerable success, establishing them as a well-known act in the local metal scene.

Currently, the band is writing for their next EP, "ILLUSIONS," with plans to release the first single and music video by 2020. With Fifie residing in Australia, York (formerly from Cousin Of Death) will be sessioning vocals for the time being.
